New Year – New Habits – New Solutions


We meet the New Year with excitement and also some deep apprehension.  We are excited about the opportunity for change, so we sit down and come up with coveted list of things we will resolve to do or recommit to taking care of this year.  Thus, we set out with a fresh new outlook and our resolutions in hand to make a difference this year. Sadly, our excitement about a fresh start begins to wane as we allow our apprehension to revive our fears.

The problems we face with the New Year is not in the list of things we resolve to do this year, but in being stuck in our habits, patterns and old belief systems on how to do them.  We can’t expect change to happen, when we are not willing to commit to making some deep changes in our thoughts and beliefs so that we can change the way we do things.

New Year - New Habits - New Solutions - Dr. Diva VerdunGetting up on New Year’s Day, you may be filled with the excitement of the new year, but to capitalize on your intention to make a difference in your L.I.F.E. you have to sit and look at how many years you have put the same things on your list or had the same wishes and hopes and dreamed of change.  Looking at where you came from last year, you have to dig deep to find the fears and apprehension that allowed you to use the excuses of no time, no money, no resources, no friends, no relationship, no education, and all the other no no no no no’s you have, that have backed you up into a corner, too afraid to make the necessary adjustments to make the differences you want to see in your L.I.F.E. this year.

Insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different result.  How can you expect to have a different year this year if you are still stuck in yesteryear’s thinking?  How can you expect a different result when you are still stuck in yesteryear’s patterns and habits?  How can you expect to resolve any of the items on your new list of resolutions, most of which are carry overs from how many years before, doing the same thing you did last year?  How can you expect to capitalize on the new year to have a new L.I.F.E. when you are not willing to sit down and look at what is going on in your own mind to see where you need to make some necessary adjustments.

The hardest thing in the world is to sit and look at self.  It is the one thing your ego never wants to face, because the ego will always lose the control it has had over you.  However, if you are determined to capitalize on the New Year, then you are determined enough to push past the ego and see what changes you need to make in your belief system, thought patterns and habits in order to make effectual changes in your L.I.F.E. now.

This year resolve to never ever carry over things that were unresolved from last year because you gave up or simply didn’t do them.  Commit to making the necessary changes this year and go through the period of discomfort that you have been dreading to have the results you want to experience in your L.I.F.E. now.

New Year - New Habits - New Solutions - Dr. Diva Verdun New Year’s resolutions rarely work because people are not willing to commit to the necessary personal changes in order to accomplish the harder task that will lead to the results they want.  If your goal is to lose weight or to learn Spanish, there is a period of pain that you will go through to achieve the desired results you want to receive.  You can’t expect the results are just going to jump up out of the sky and be there without doing the necessary work.

Sadly, all the excitement of the new year fades quickly into the realization that work goes along with the intended goal you have set.  However, you have to dig deep and believe in yourself that you can overcome the symptoms of ego-itis to be able to root out your bad habits and negative belief systems that have held you back from achieving the L.I.F.E. of your dreams.

This is your year to live L.I.F.E. and to live it abundantly.  However, the truth is everything that you ever desired and dreamed was yours last year and the year before as well. You have to be determined and get disciplined to achieve what you desire this year.

Know that you don’t have to wait 365 days to get a new start. You don’t have to wait til New Year’s to begin making any changes in your L.I.F.E.  You can resolve to make changes each and everyday. You don’t have to buy into the idea that you missed your opportunity because you didn’t reach your goals this year or last year… Just get back on top of things each day and keep at it until you make it happen.

Your L.I.F.E. will begin to manifest for you all that you can ever dream as long as you take consistent action on your goals.  Be willing to do what is necessary to make them happen in your L.I.F.E. now!  It is up to you to do it.  No one can make it happen for you but you.  Get up and take on the challenge to make the necessary changes at the root level, your thinking.  Resolve this year to change your thinking and change your L.I.F.E.
